Hey Guys N00b here! Question....What are the gear ratios in the 6 speed transmissions? I know there are a number of different ones but what is the norm in the Camaro's, TA's etc...Im looking to swap in a 6 speed and i have to see whats out there so i can determine the proper rearend gear..

Also Price on these trannys generally and Is anyone selling one?

Thanks Guys!

Cool

You can still go on GM's website and look at spec's for 2002 Camaros. They list the gear ratios there, but I'll save ya the work:

M6
1st - 2.66
2nd - 1.78
3rd - 1.30
4th - 1.00
5th - 0.74
6th - 0.50
Rev - 2.90

A4
1st - 3.06
2nd - 1.63
3rd - 1.00
4th - 0.70
Rev - 2.29

Hope that helps ya out.

EDIT: did you just want to know REAR - END gear ratios??! Easy:

M6 - 3.42 (no option)
A4 - 2.73 or optional 3.23

Thumbs up

Naw you got it right the 1st time...I wanted to know the ratios of the tranny..

I was wondering if 373's would be too much gear for the 6 speed..I checked JEGS and the 6 speeds in there have some really low 1st gears so I wondered if thats what came in the camaros...

So hey thanks for the help! 1 more quick question if anyone sees this...How much power can one of these trannys withstand? Consider the motors redline @about 6-6500 RPM.

Welcome to CZ28 Wanna6spd!
Here you go.

You can enter the rear end gears , tires and pick the 6-spd and see your RPM's for the speed. The LS1 has around 300HP to the rear wheels stock. People are putting over 400HP to the wheels without blowing up the tranny. Some up to 500 HP I believe, but I have no first hand knowlege on that. Good luck. I love driving my M6. Another year and I'll have 3.73's in my '02. Later>>>>>>>>

How much power can the TRANNY handle? HA, these things are practically bullet-proof. How much power can the 10 bolt rear handle..that's another story.

I don't like the gearing in my m6 at all. I need some 4.10's. The 2.66 1st is what I really don't like. I like my stangs tremec 3.27 1st.
