Full bolt on's

What is a "full bolt on" setup with a LS1 motor. I ask this because i hear some parts are a waste of $ for the small HP gain you get. How much should "full bolt ons" cost if i do the work myself. I have a 99 SS LS1 with the stock ram air setup. Thanks, Brian Kaiser

same basic idea as the lt1. a good thing to start with is the basics...intake, exhaust and handling

lid, LS6 intake, longtube headers, catback or duals, sfc, lca and sway bars if you want better handling in the curves.

think you would know more w/ the extensive work you have done to your LT1....There are many bolt ons, alot useless, but the ones that really count are lid, and full exhaust(ie. headers/Y pipe/Catback)

Everything I have

Actually, there's only two things I don't have: MAF (have one, just don't want to install it) and elec. waterpump. Other than that I'm pretty good.

As far as how much it should cost, I think if I considered my power-adder mods along with TC and gears, it ran me about $4000. I did all the work myself, except TC and gear install.

In the LT1 world that's true. With an LT1 you can just throw a set of rockers on. But not for LS1s. To change ratio on an LS1 rocker you need to change valve springs and pushrods. Now it's no longer a bolt-on motor those are internal mods.

Not! If your changing the cam yes you need new springs. But many hundreds of LT1 owners have just changed from 1.5s to 1.6s without any other changes.
