fuel smell inside my 01 t/a...
I can smell fuel inside my t/a, it gets worse the closer to the full mark i get it. If let sit overnight, in the morning the smell is pretty strong, almos tlike i have a can of gas that i let sit in there overnight or something. The carper in the rear of the car above the tank doesnt smell of fuel at all, so i dont think its seeping up from there.... i'm thinking some sort of vent line or maybe the tank has a hole in it? is this a common problem with the ls1's, the tank seems different than on my 94Z. any help is greatly appreciated.

yeah its tight. i turn it the full 3 clicks or more everytime. its a strong smell, and its bothering me because its not too healthy i'm sure. i'm hopin i can figure it out on my own and not have to take it to a shop.

I've got an lt1 that had that problem right after i changed the plugs and wires... honestly dont know what it was but after a couple weeks it just kinda worked itself out. Anytime i would shut off the car and get back in an hour later it smelled strong. But it just went away after a while. Have you done any work on your car lately?

no, i've only had it a few weeks. it's in the body shop right now because my dad backed his impala ss into it. b body cars will bust a fiberglass door pretty easily aparently.

Re: fuel smell inside my 01 t/a...
thanks. i guess the next step is to trace the fuel lines, its just gonna be hard to get up under this thing. to do a good inspection. i wonder what else it could be? i think a vent line would be the best bet...
when i get it back fromt he body shop, i'm gonna have to crawl under it and see if i can trace it.
