Re: free mods?

The stock ls1 tb doesnt open fully at WOT, you can shave off some of the stopper so you can open it a little more. Here's a link, hope it helps:

Here is the link I used. I do not have autotap, and this link shows how to do it with a voltmeter. Took all of 20 minutes I think.

Re: free mods?

from what i know there is 2 coolant lines that run through the TB, which really serve no purpose besides hold up HP, just take them off the tb and put them together...... gain some hp, also a free mod is descreening the MAF, just take the maf sensor out and take the screen off, just be extremly careful and DO NOT TOUCH THE INSIDE of the MAF

Re: free mods?

this site has been extremely helpful to me. the free ram air mod i think everyone has done and its easy and i think i received the most hp from it. it also covers the MAF which is another good one to do

good luck.

Re: free mods?

the coolant lines for the TB are there to help warm up the engine, particularly in colder climates.

but in doing so, after the engine is warm they cause the intake air temps to increase which robs hp. kind of a scary amount when you really see the dyno graphs from it. i think www.ws6.com has a graph.

you can remove the EGR tube from the intake (on 97-00 engines), which is supposed to help flow a little.

port the TB is another.

As what noname said. I found my kit on ebay. The only problem with it was that on my 2002, the passenger side coolant tube is slightly bigger than the driver side coolant tube. You will just need to go get a rubber cap from the auto parts store just bigger than the driver side. But the mod works very well, especially with the free ram air mod.

Re: free mods?

just got around to actually checking my TPS voltage while i was scanning a code.

turns out my TB was only reading 4.22v

that's quite a bit off since the max is 4.7v before it trips the SES light.

gonna get some before and after pics tonite.

figured i would bring up this old thread for some of the new guys.

its amazing what the SEARCH button can do
