Yesterday i changed the oil in my car. It was the first time i've done it myself but will be doing it myself from now on. When i was takin out the oil drain plug, i had it out most of the way, maybe 1-2 threads left and then the headers got in the way. I had to use a hammer but i'm sure if i pulled hard enough it would have also come out from being directly in front of the header. Anybody else ever have this problem?

I was thinkin of maybe using a dremel on the drain plug to take out part of the tip or last couple threads but i'm not sure if that might cause a leak. Should i just stick with pulling it out, it went back a little easier than it came out, just had to push up a little bit. Any ideas? Would calling up FLP about this be a good idea?

 

That is COMMON with FLP's. I either take a crowbar, and pry a little, moving the motor, or wiggle the plug always comes out. Not insanely hard to get out just tight.

 

I cut the magnet off of mine. Had the same problem with my Dynotechs.

 

I have FLPs and I dont have that problem but I will say the oil filter is a pain in the @$$ to get off with out a proper oil filter wrench...

 

heh, have no problems with the ol' SLP headers.

 

the oil filter is no problem, just used my hands. I think i'm just gonna use the extra time and try gettin it out the same way everytime.

 

Had the same problem with the flps. I installed a shorter drain plug bolt problem solved

 

Where did u get the shorter drain plug?

 

I had the same problem with mine. Here is how to fix it.

Use a ply bar to move the header a little. The plug then will come out. Now take the plug,which is an indented hex, and grind the head so it is not indented anymore. This should clear the headers now. This did the trick for me.
