FlowMAster Cat BAck or SLP Loudmouth?
FlowMAster Cat BAck or SLP Loudmouth?
I am fixing to order and since these 2 brands cost about ther same I am having trouble decideding which to order, basically I can get either for just under $380 shipped. I looked at Corsa and although I loved the tips, it is double the price, aswell as Borla. From what I understand the SLP have some pretty plain tips that come with it also, as for the Flowmaster they have tips that say Flowmaster on them? Does anyne know which system really gives the most bang? Are they about the same? Which sounds better? I want to order Tommorow morning, so your input is very helpful and not a waste of time.

I had a flowmaster muffler and I lost some bottom end torque. It was loud, but the loudmouth is louder, baddass sound and loudmouth actually gives you noticeable horsepower gains. Go with the loudmouth and install the system yourself or if you have a shop install loudmouth for you, then "don't use the u-clamps slp provides," they are a pain to remove if the shop tightened them down a lot.
I tried to remove my u-bolts from my loudmouth exhaust and I could not seperate the pipes over the axle, because the u-clamp was tightened down a lot and crushed the pipes locking the exhast to each other, making it impossable for me to remove the exhuast that over the axle.
My opinion is get the loudmouth.

I went with flowmaster but I have a daily driven car. With some of the loudmouth videos I've heard, I'm happy with my decision. I think the extreme loudness everyday, and coming home late in my neighborhood would work out. My flowmaster deeply echos from far away, but loudmouth sound to me like more a 60's hotrod. It's all what your going for. I totally agree that the slp system would give you more power, but to me it's not worth dealing with loudness everyday.

Depends, if you are like me and like deep throaty sounding exhaust (like nice sounding 5.0's) then:
Sorry but to me loud mouth sound NASTY (in a very bad way). Hell, just get a cut out.
I personally also had the GMMG exhaust and was NOT a fan.
If you are spending $400 pick up a used Mufflex with dual 3" out. It uses a Spintech muffler and has AWESOME chrome tips. It will give you the most power (it's a 4" cat-back) and the BEST sound IMO.
Basically, the sound is comparative to a nice dual exhaust setup on a 5.0 Mustang. Put a cam in the car and think "Eleanor" from "Gone in 60 Seconds"
!
I personally just got a new LS1 and happened to have a Flowmaster cat-back laying around (long story) so I'll give it a shot.
I've heard the same things, sounds great, performance sucks. If that's the case I'll just stick an electric cutout on it.

Have you checked out the TSP Rumbler?
I like this exhaust because it flows well, is lightweight, didn't break the bank, and it sounds like the car means business.
Check it out.

GMMG is overpriced and overrated. Get the Loudmouth and put a bullet, twister, XR1, or chambered stick in place of the resonator and you'll sound just as good and flow just as well. LM is stainless Blowmaster is aluminized.
I noticed in your sig that true duals are on your future mods list, why not wait and get a custom or look into the Bassani dual system. Do a search for more info. It costs as much as a GMMG. Why buy a new catback now if you're wanting to go duals?
BTW, I have a Mufflex I picked up used for $150. Its a 4", but they also come in 3.5".

Forget catbacks. Nothing sounds as good or gives as much power gains as dumped true duals.
But if you insist on a catback, the GMMG will give the best sound/power gains. The Hooker catback flows very well and sounds pretty good, but is pretty quiet.
