Firehawk tires

Hey guys, I just ran over a nail and the head is sticking out of the bottem of my rear firehawk tire. This car and tire is new with only about 4,000 miles on it. I took it to the local tire shop and they pulled out the nail and inserted a plug. Do these plugs make your tire like new? I drive hard and race once ina while at the track. I don't feel too safe with this tire and Im looking for info on this subject. Could this tire blow during a burn-out or during hard cornering? Thanks.

Plugs are pretty good but patches are better. If you are worried about it then just switch that tire to the front. That way it won't be on the "burn-out" tires.Or you can spend a few $$$$,have the tire removed from the rim and have the hole actually patched from the inside. This will last longer than your tire does.Good luck.

i completely agree that best thing to do without buying a new tire would be to have it taken off and the patched. plugs do work well but it is understandable not to trust them. but they would not cause your tire to blow out.

The tire should be fine..I agree that a patch is better...but they are no longer Z-rated tires....watch out for high speeds
