Re: FIPK by K&N?

This has been debated a million times. I've had a lid and slp ram air and switched to the FIPK and am very happy. The first drive I took with it brought a smile to my face. But paying $349 for one is silly. Try to find a used one or get lucky on a ebay deal like I did and get a new one for $221.

Best price on ebay right now. $262

Re: FIPK by K&N?

on a z28...a lid and the FRA or SSRA will be just as good.

on the WS6 hood i think the advantage is towards the FIPK or Volant induction, just due to the location of the hood scoop.

i highly doubt the FIPK is worth more than 2-3hp over a lid with the FRA. and the advantages of the SSRA at speed far exceed the FIPK.

you can get a lid and the SSRA for about $300 total, cheaper if the lid is used.

Re: FIPK by K&N?

I dont know about hp gains but I went to the track 3 times when totally stock best I could get and I was consistent was a 13.67I did the free ram air and dremeled all of the baffles out of my stock lid and went back to the track times stayed the same my best was 13.6, bought the k&n fipk and ran consistant 13.2-13.3 nothing higher than that so I think it was woth the $269 I paid. And btw every that looks under the hood loves it

To say "far exceed" is a little bold ... Al - the moderator on here - and I both went 12.1s on similiar bolt ons ... i believe he ran his in slightly cooler weather than I did and I ran a little faster than him with my FIPK to his SSRA ...

So based on the ancedotal evidence ... one would say that the SSRA not only doesn't "far exceed" the FIPK, but in fact could be said to be slightly slower ... in truth, they are essentially equal ... so it really comes down to a matter of asthetics and preference for a bottom feeder or a top feeder.

Re: FIPK by K&N?

when i say "at speed" i mean at 100+

the amount of time you guys spent at that speed during a 1/4mi run is pretty small.

at all speeds the FIPK is still just a CAI...where the SSRA is a true ram air at higher speeds.

poootato...potaaaato
6 of one...half dozen of the other

i agree...go with whatyou like
