exhuast cut-outs
exhuast cut-outs
Hey, thinking of adding a cut-out. Where did you guys have them installed? I was thinking about in the middle of the straight section of the intermediate pipe. Where can you get one? Electronic valve? How much? And one more...about how much louder is it with it open, is it the equalivalent of runnning an open pipe after the cats?
Thanks again

Re: exhuast cut-outs
I put my cutout under where the back passenger would sit in the car, I keep mine open all the time. Its pretty loud but I like the sound and it seemed to get a little bit more power. It costed like $20- $30 dollars and about $40 for install. Im happy with mine.
Re: exhuast cut-outs
I have mine located in the I-pipe just about 6"s back from where it curves over the axle. There's an area under the body that looks like it was made for a cutout to be placed
You'll see what I'm talking about if you take a look. If you have it installed in that spot, you can easily reach the wingnuts *if you don't go electric* by reaching just in front of the rear passenger tire.
My car is lowered quite a bit and I've never had a problem with scraping the flange on the street. I had an exhaust guy tell me that I'd bang it on everything when I tried to get him to install it.
The sound is awesome, with the cutout open I still have a decent amount of exhaust coming out of the Flowmaster. I think it sounds very nice, there is very very little rasp or backfire when I rev it... sounds extremely smooth. I've gotten compliments on it
BTW: I paid $35shipped for the cutout then $50 for the install. That's a fairly high price for installation compared to some places but the spot I took it did a very nice job, even though its where no one can really see it... the guy did a very clean install job. The welds are very clean.
