Exhaust Tips
Exhaust Tips
I want to install a cat back but I want my car to remain stealth. Does anyone know of a company that sells a system that affords me the use of my stock tips and also not be obnoxiously loud?
get whatever system you want, just weld the stock tips on the new pipes.
If you are going for sound, two choices: 1. Flowmaster (deep like roaring) , 2. Loudmouth (loud and raspy)
Those seem to be the favorites for SOUND purposes
If you want performance there are a lot more
-GMMG
-B&B
-Loudmouth
-Hooker
-Corsa
-Borla
You can always just put a cutout on your stock system, good gains and they sound great! And you don't have to change your tips.
there are more, but can't remember right now.

Get a hooker aerochamber muffler. Don't buy the catback, just the muffler. It'll cost you about $80 for the muffler and maybe $50 to install it with your stock tips in place. That will give you a nice sound only slightly louder then stock and you keep stock appearance.
The pipes in the normal catbacks are 3" stainless steel mandrell press bent. They are very nice to have. But stock pipes are 2.75" stainless steel mandrell press bent so you only gain .25 by using a full catback and the gains on that are very minimal. 95% of your HP gains from a catback are found in the new muffler not the pipes.
That's probably your best bet but if you must have a full catback then get the hooker or slp dual/dual. Then have a muffler shop reinstall your stock tips in place of the new ones. They won't match up size wise so the shop will have to fab two small pipes to adapt to the size but they can do it (for a fee).
Good Luck

You DEFINITELY want a GMMG exhaust. Absolutely THE BEST sounding catback available for the LS1. Get in on a GP the next time f-bodyhideout.com has one, and you'll be paying $650 shipped.
You could just saw the stock tips off and weld them on your new exhaust system.
BTW, if you have never heard of GMMG, check them out at http://www.gmmginc.net
