Re: Exhaust Note

I installed my mid lengths recently and had no probs. I removed the plugs, coil packs, plug wires, steering shaft, and of course the old exhaust manifolds. After that they basically dropped into place, you'll need the header gaskets, id replace the plugs while youre already there and you might need o2 simulators and o2sensor extensions depending on the type of header you get

Re: Exhaust Note

I love my loudmouth...the drone isn't too bad, i personally like it. As far as with headers, i don't know....yet...If it is too loud to your taste, you can always put a dynomax bullet or borla muffler in place of the resonator. Still probably cheaper then most other stainless exhausts out there. also ls1sounds.com will have sound clips of exhausts and exhausts with headers on it...check it out

Re: Exhaust Note

Find a post by teke184, go to his car domain page (in sig), one of the pages in there has a pretty good header install walk through.

What exactly makes the Pacesetters have a lower quality than the Jet-Hots?

I backed up the idea of gettin headers and i'm gonna back up this also. The GMMG is awesome......u can ask anybody with one and they love it. I'm still sayin go for headers first though and then go from there. In ur position, u already got a good enough catback and headers would bring it out. Get the headers, then later if u want do a different catback...i'm sure u can sell urs for a nice price and not have to pay soo much extra for the GMMG. It's worth it though.....its quiet enough when u got cops around......don't go over 2k rpms and ur fine. When u get on it its awesome. I get compliments all the time. And some of those other catbacks....i know the Loudmouth is one of em, ?Flowmaster too?....but they have a lot of drone. Not the GMMG. I'd buy one again if i did it over, worth the money. U get what u pay for.

Qaulity of the welds, and material quality (flange thickness, and so forth).

Re: Exhaust Note

thanks for suggesting my header install page. it's on the website in my signature.

yeah, it's mostly the welds.

although the flange on my flowtechs (another budget header) was nice and thick and seemed to seal well.

If you have the full open plate on, it will also rasp like all hell.
