Exhaust Note

My SS cam factory with the "Performance Exhaust" option from SLP. Does anyone know if this is the same as the SLP Power flow exhaust system?

Anyway, the factory SLP exhaust has a good sounding note, but it is not very loud. I usually drive with the radio off or turned down because a good exhaust tone is music to my ears but road and wind noise usually drowns out the exhaust sound when cruising. I don't know if the exhaust will get any louder since I only have 11k on the car?

I was going to get the SLP loud mouth exhaust. It seems like a real good deal at $350 and should bolt up to my current system real easy. But some have warned me that is too loud and has a "drone" sound in the cabin. I've never heard one in person, can anyone describe how bad the drone sound is in the cabin? Any sound bites?

I am looking for good sound quality not just volume, any suggestions? (I have head that Corsa has the best sound, but is it worth the extra $, almost 3x the loudmouth?)

Also, has anyone heard the loudmouth II? It is suppose to be milder than the original.

Loudmouth is anoyingly loud and drones like hell on the highway. If you are not sure I would suggest hooker or magnaflow thery both sound good. If it ends up not being loud enough then just cut out the cat.

Re: Exhaust Note

Keep the dual/dual and spend the $350 for headers. This way you'll get power and sound.

Re: Exhaust Note

Thanks for the link.

What headers would you recomend? (for $350?)

Is there an issue with ground clearance with LT headers? Are they all the same or are some worse than others?

You won't find a good set of LT's for 350 including the y pipe, especially coated. If you want to dump your cash on headers, you mind as well make it worthwhile

Re: Exhaust Note

Jet-Hot header and Y will run you around $700, maybe a little more. Pacesetter can be had for about $500. The Pacesetters are the same tube design, but have slightly lower quality thn the Jet-Hots. I have no problems with them being too low. The Loudmouth is a nice exhaust for a stock car. Mine would drone some on the highway. It was louder than hell with headers, and the rasp was bad.

Jet Hots will run you about almost 800 with the Y pipe.

I agree with him..........the headers will liven it up pretty good. If u still don't like it then change the exhaust but i think u'll like it. The SLP Dual/Dual is real good from what i've heard.

Re: Exhaust Note

Get a Magnaflow exhaust for under $400 and the Pacesetter long tubes for a little over $400. You'll gain about 25 to 30 hp with that.

The Pacesetter long tubes are good quality and are the bang for the buck right now.

Re: Exhaust Note

And none of these other catbacks will make anymore power than the dual/dual thats already on the car. Like I said, throw headers on it.

Re: Exhaust Note

I personally like the Loudmouth, and it is pretty loud. Borla and Corsa have really good tones to them. Some of the Borlas come with adjustably plates so you can adjust how loud you want it.

Re: Exhaust Note

How hard is the header job? Do you have to move a lot out of the way (steering box, etc.)? Any one know of any good instructions online?
