Estimate My Time

Scenerio: My buddy bet me that i couldn't get my car to run a 13.1 or lower with my current set up, he infact betted me that if i did run that time or better he would buy me my next mods which we argreed upon to be QTP Long Tubes and the YPipe. WE schook hands and all... Now i am askin... Does anyone think i have a chance at those times? I know i am a lil heavier but just maybe i can pull it off? I think i might be adding SSRA Before the end of the week which is the time i am going to the track.

I dont see it happening. Your a vert, and that adds a couple hundred pounds, and your probobly not an expert driver either, so chances of you going faster than 13.1 is pretty slim. This isnt a knock to you so please dont take offense to this. I just dint see it happening with your mods and your car.

Was using the mods you already have the only agreement? Because you could shave some weight, take out your spare, the passenger seat shouldn't be too hard to take out, 1/4 tank of gas... If you are good with the stick and do the stuff I listed above I think it might be possible.

I noticed that you have the ported and descreened MAF mod done. Computer tuning will help significantly, because that mod tends to make your car run too lean.

Just a suggestion.

I ran a 13.3 with a stock M6 '02 Vert. It does have the 345hp package. But that's just a lid and SLP catback. And I've only taken an M6 to the track 3 or 4 times. So I'm not a pro at launching either. I just dumped the clutch between 2500 and 3000 RPM and shifted at 6000 RPM as fast as I could. Drop your tire pressure down to about 18 pounds too. Don't do a huge burnout on street tires. They'll get greasy when they get too hot. Just spin 'em for a second to scrub off any debris that's stuck on there.

For more help ask over at the Drag Racing forum. I only went to the strip a few times until I got the numbers I knew the car could do. I'm an autocrosser by choice. They'll be able to help a lot more than me over there.

It won't be easy, but with the right conditions you should be able to do it.

i have been down the track before, and i consider myself a decent driver, meaing i know my car pretty well. I saw that 2002Z28SSConv did run a 13.3 stock and i covered his mods plus a lil more. It was agreed just the mods i have now but i plan on adding ssra seeing he doesn't even know what that is. i figure a tenth or 2 can't hurt right?

Yea SpecForceZ28, my maf is totally hogged out.... i got bored one day heh, maybe i will look into a tune this week of some sort.

I plan on running with a 1/4 tank and i will be takin my spare and jack out, i don't however plan on ripping any seats out... but if thats what it takes i will rip the passenger one out. how much does that seat weigh anyway?

IF worst comes to worst and my first run i don't make it... the 2nd def will w/ a lil help from mr 50 shot....

Free long tubes or maybe being a lil cheap.... easy decision... i would feel bad if it was a nice guy, but when u come down with ur brother in a yellow srt-4 and demand to race for pink slips or 200 bucks at least and starts bashing the "firechicken" u get sick of it Besides... he drives a 5 speed 6 cylinder mustang that sounds/looks like a wannabe cobra. (EUROS!!)

Nah but i wanna see what my car runs asap, regardless of the bets or promises. Anyone else have any inputs.

in the lt1 world taking off the front sway bar helps some on the launch, is this true for ls1? i think it could be possible with some et streets/tuning and excellent driving/ and perfect track conditions.
