dynoing with an M6

the 1 time i had it done he put it 4th.

im just wondering if you guys have done it in 3rd.

and i was wondering what kind of numbers id see if they did in 1st and 2nd.
for instance: if i put 312rwtq in 4th at 5700 rpms, at what rpm would i see that 312rwtq in 1st?

wouldnt i have 312rwtq at a lower rpm in 1st?

sorry if this is a dumb question, im still learning.

He put it in 4th because thats your 1:1 gear. 5th and 6th are overdrivegears.

wouldnt i have 312rwtq at a lower rpm in 1st?

I dont think you would even see 312rwt in first......i think...

my guess is that the computer wouldnt know what to do or how to read that.. since its not anywhere as long and drawn out as a blast in 4th... first and second happen way too fast.. I would then assume that you could in fact do it in third but the system doesnt account for the odd gearing and the numbers, IMO would be too high.. thats just my guess tho...

I have never really wondered that tho... odd.. I just like to know what its real and true numbers are.. so much that if I had the means, I know I would pull the motor, dyno then reinstall and get back on a chassis dyno just to see the difference.

I think many people have dyno'd lower in 3rd gear than in 4th gear.

It should do the same numbers in every gear really, 1:1 just simplifies the calculation.

provided that the computer is told the proper ratio then quite possibly, but I would gather that most are set to test for 1:1
