Driving..Oil Pressure Gauge Drops to 0!!!
Driving..Oil Pressure Gauge Drops to 0!!!
Im on my way home from work..cruising along..and i look down and my Check Gages light is on..i check my gas first...half tank..and i see my oil pressure is pegged at 0!!
I freak out and instantly pull over and shut the car off..i pop the hood...look around for leaks..check under the car..and i pull the dipstick out..and its right where its supposed to be..car runs, respondes, acts fine.
Is there a Oil gauge sensor somewhere? I mean its obviously not gonna affect the car...but id like to take care of it. Thanks!

It will effect the car if it don't have enough oil pressure!!!!!! BOOM
There is a sending unit.I would put a manual guage on it and see.

"So if it had no oil pressure..it woulda blew probably 10seconds after that gauge dropped."
not really man...
you could easily drive a few miles on no oil i think.
i agree with the above...put a guage on it and see what happens

Well,don't take advise.
Why did ya ask.
Re: Driving..Oil Pressure Gauge Drops to 0!!!
now dont take what i said the wrong way..but i clearly stated..the motor has oil...and drives fine. If it was something along the lines of even a spun bearing or something..the gauge would read really low..not just sit there pegged at 0.
i called a dealership and found out there is an oil pressure sensor...that its ONLY job..is to send the readings to that gauge...so just because it dosent work..dosent mean the cars not gonna get oil pressure. You would clearly know if the motor wasnt getting oil..and the dipstick tube(which i said was fine) would of been low, or empy if i had no oil pressure.
