Does the stall only work on the 1/4 mile?
Re: Does the stall only work on the 1/4 mile?
Ok guys. I got 3.73's in my car. When tax season rolls around im gonna have the QTP headers and a 4000 Yank Converter because im gonna get the Heads and cam package and thats what Yank recommends. If I put it in before I get the H&C what can I expect out of my car with 3.73's LT's and that 4000 stall? Will it be streetable? Im pretty sure it will scoot on down the road but im mainly worried about how streetable it will be.

I have a Y3000 2.0 STR coupled to my 3.73's, and with full rear suspension upgrade using BMR components, WITH sub frame connectors, it still gets a little wild.

what do you mean wild? You mean, when starting from a stop light or sign if you accidently give it to much gas it will squeal tires or it will do it all the time? Or just no traction when you punch it?

I drove in a friends vehicle that had the stock 3.23's with a Vig 2800 2.5 STR, and he was going sidways from a dead stop. This looks impressive, however you are going no where, and wasting E.T.
I would get the gears, and match the converter to them.
Good luck.

Ok maybe in real cold weather you could but I'm talking a 75-80 degree day, sun shining and a dry street.

If you just lightly press on the gas your car will drive like normal. It's only when you lay into the gas pedal that the stall comes alive. If you were to get in my car you couldn't even tell I had a different stall unil you punched it. I have a Yank 3200 stall with a 2.5 (or 2.0 can't remember) STR.

A stall will help you as long as its bringing you into peak torque band. WHen it pushes you beyond that, i.e. higher rpms, then for that bit of time its hurting you. For most of the rev range, its helping, so overall, it will improve performance at just about any speed.

Bone stock it would chirp from a 20 punch. With the lid it would start to lose traction at the top of 1st, with the headers/ory it would demolish the tires in first at any speed, now with the big cam.....well lets just say i don't get any traction till third right now. I've got new tires on the way though along with some new rims!
