I know that its competitors have a vin lock so you can't use it on multiple cars. Does the Hpp III have a vin lock? I just bought a used one from ebay and i want to make sure.

 

yes it does

You better hope the person undid the programming from their car so you can use that one on yours.

 

The programmer can be used on other cars provided the 1st car is put back to 100% stock.

 

how come a lot of people sell used hypertechs on this board and on ebay if they are completely useless after they are used, which mostly of all of them are?

 

You can reuse them if the person pulls the programming off of their car. Once it is removed, it can be used on a different car. If they do not remove the programming from their car, the programmer will not work on another car.

 

They have an option to return car to stock programming. Once this is done, the programmer is no longer VIN locked and can program another vehicle. I just recently did this and sold my programmer.

 

Yes you can buy a used Hypertech..however always make sure the original or current owner has put their car back to stock. This is Hypertechs way to make sure they aren't getting robbed (i.e. buying one HPP for your entire car club).
