Does the GMMG drone on the interstate?

Well, does it?

Right now my current setup is a Maganflow catback(came with the car) It has a nice sound, but was way too quiet. Also, I have the stock cats, manifolds, and ypipe(and am keeping it that way because of emmissions)

So I had a cutout installed under the rear seat, and it sounded nice and loud, but droned like a b!tch on the interstate. It also buzzed my interior into a sympony of rattles

Also, is the GMMG significantly louder than a Magnaflow? Is it as loud as a cutout? I know that nobody on this board has said anything bad about the GMMG, and it sounded great on LS1sounds.com

GMMG does not drone on the highway. Its actually not even that loud with stock exaust manifolds and cats. The tone is wonderful though.

Re: Does the GMMG drone on the interstate?

i would bet it's louder than the magnaflow for sure
i have a 6 speed so my obviously doesn't drone on the highway (or atleast where i can hear it)
in regards to the cutout, i would have to say gmmg isn't as loud as a cutout but gets close from what i remember
it will not sound as loud just because it's not right under your seat for 1 (i had the old exhaust off while waiting for a new one and while it's loud, it's mostly because you can hear it more vs. it coming out the back of your car)

except for the price, i'd say you'd be happy with the gmmg

Do you have any pics of the Magnaflow tips on your car?

Also,
Are you going to be selling the magnaflow?

Look into corsa, sounds kind of like gmmg, close in price, and no drone. I have it and i hear good things about both.

No, and you'll find the interior noise reducing even more after you add headers. Its loud with headers make no mistake but the resonance reduces. Search my name and GMMG exhaust and find the several posts I have made on the GMMG and the sound differences with and without headers. GMMG is awesome, all you have to do is look at GMMG's website and cars they build and you'll know they mean business. Corsa sounds ok but its more high pitched. I like the low threatening rumble of the GMMG. It gives your car just the right attitude. Plus GMMG uses it on all their project cars including the newest Mr. Chevrolet 427 LS1 Camaro.

Check out the TSP Rumbler.

It's quiet when idling, but when you rev it up, the car sounds like it really means business.

No droning on the highway with my GMMG but I have the 6-speed of course. I am not sure if the drone would be noticeable with the A4 or not because the RPM's will be higher. I love the sound though. The exhaust isn't that loud unless you get on the gas, and then it just roars.

I love my GMMG.I've had it for almost 2 years now, and I still can't get over it. It sounds so much better than a Corsa or Magnaflow too. Definitely get the GMMG. You'll love it!

Re: Does the GMMG drone on the interstate?

My magnaflow broke in after a month and sounded ok, but kinda quiet until you got on it......Now I have an ORY and it sounds great, and borders too loud.........if I stay off it while I go by a cop or pop it into neutral I'm ok, it has rasp at 2400 rpm though since the ORY.

If you get headers or ORY, to hell with chambered exhaust, because it will be too loud and you'll get pulled, and it's not a refined sound. I like my magnaflow, and it's stainless steel.

The magnaflow came with the car when I bought it. The tips were these big, ugly oval things that I had taken off, and had some 2 3/4 round tips welded on the second day I owned the car. They look like the GMMG tips. I only paid $15 a piece for the tips, so they aren't a very high quality and have started to pitt and dull.

And I am not selling the Magnaflow. When/if I sell my Z28, I'll have the magnaflow put back on and keep my gmmg and put it on my next car(hopefully a 6 speed formula hardtop with cloth seats)

Really depends on what RPM you cruise at. If you don't have gears, you'll be fine. it will be very loud compared to the magnaflow.

I cruise at 80MPH, with 3.23 gears equals approximitly 2400RPMS
