Well my car has a mti clear lid and it looks like the filter is a k&n by color and material, also has the k&n oil stuff on it.. Does it sound like i have the stock one or is this an aftermarket one?

If it has the small wire mesh, and black rubber gasket; it's aftermarket (K&N). If it looks and feels like paper, it is paper. And yeah, don't over oil it. The oil can get onto the MAF sensing unit and throw off your calibration. -something like that..
