Did fan switch mod, SES light came on, please help!

My car is a 1999 Trans-Am. I vampire clipped a wire to the dark green wire coming off the #1 Fan relay and ran the wire to a switch that then went to a ground.

The low speed fans came on when I turned the switch on (whether the car was on or off didn't matter). Then after driving it the SES light came on.

I reset the computer, still on.

I took the clip off the wire and taped it up, all back to stock, reset the computer, STILL ON!

Is there a different way to hook up the switch for a 99?

Is there a way to hook it up to where the switch only works when the car is on?

WHY IS MY SES LIGHT STAYING ON ?!

Thanks for any help !

did you use leds? i think if you use led's without resistors it sets off the ses light. And if you have the switch on before you start the car it will trip it also.

Just saw that you unhooked it and it still comes on. Im stumped now too

Yeah, no led's.

I am going to disconnect the battery in the morning and see if that does the trick.

This mod SUCKS!!!

On the LT1, the switch could be on and the fans would still cutoff when you cut the car off, you could turn it on with them on, why is this one such a PITA!!!! (I know, LS1's monitor more things, yada yada yada).

Definetly doesn't seem like it's worth the trouble !

It could give me 50 more horsepower and I would still prefer to not have that d@mn light shining in my face.

for 50 more HP i'd be all into leaving the SES light on lol

i'd just buy an autotap to monitor it. then it would still be a CHEAP 50hp lol

Try this:

With the car off, pull the PCM IGN fuse (15A) out from the driver's side door fuse box and leave it out for a good 2 minutes, then put it back in, start the car and see if the SES light is still on. That should reset it, unless you really screwed something up on that install (i.e. crossed wires)
