dang.. didn't expect this at 13k... problems...

my babes bangin off the rev limiter... redlined it on an onramp today... banged hard 3 times and fell back to about 5 grand before upshifting.... did that a few times as i tried to see if it would keep doing it... not ALL the time... maybe 40%

then on highway... smashed it to redline 2nd... held steady at 4 grand 82mph... no acceleration like i hit some kind of governor...

and this may just be me being paranoid.... but i THINK the trannys actin funny... maybe slipping? i could be makin that up tho

thoughts?

eesh. that doesn't sound right. My first thought was a computer problem, but that seems entirely too squirrely for the common corruption. I would definitely get that tranny checked if i were you. You can always replace the chip, the tranny'll be another 3-5 grand.

I had the same symptoms. Fluid was low. The connection to the cooler was leaking. It blew the 3-4 shift clutch in the auto. Luckily they covered under warranty as the shop had to rebuild the transmission. So rebuilt tranny at 75K miles.

Can't complain, but in the auto if you start hitting the rev limiter on acceleration, check the fluid and look for/fix the leak.

Good luck,
Tony

Re: dang.. didn't expect this at 13k... problems...

i've been under it a bunch of times... no transmission fluid leaks that ic ould see

checked the fluid... was a little low... drove about 10 miles or so round trip to autozone and bought two quarts was b&m trick shift... got home, checked the level again with the tranny up to temp.... it was reading in the 80 degree area where im pretty sure it should have been in "hot" 80/warm/hot are the stages it was about 3/4in low on the dipstick poured in one quart took it for a 5 minute spin... came back checked it again... now its reading about 3/4in OVERFULL

tried to redline it a bunch of times... but without going 90mph on the street i could only do this for the 1st/2nd shift, which is hard to do with the *** end being so squirrely... i did notice a quick sputter once tho at about 5200 still... never really got to redline it properly under full traction

i THINK i might still have like 2months on warranty... i have to check

thoughts?

s'getting worse... and the tranny fluid is actually a little overfull... and its got a real sluggish very powerless period too high of a rev 1-2 shift at very partial throttle... definatly think the transmission is screwed.... but why the hell isn't the fluid burnt? alot of black stuff came off the dipstick when i rubbed it with a white paper towel... but the fluid itself that drips off it seem fairly clean, clear and red

i know exactly what you are talking about. i have a '99 T/A and i have been having the exact to the T problem that you are having. i still have a warrenty till 75K and i have 47K on the clock now. i have taken the car to a GM dealership, and Carmax(where i bought the car) and both have told be that there is nothing really wrong because as you said my tranny fluid was perfect and that diddnt warrent them going into the tranny. i have been furious about this, because i know my f-bodys and i know there is a huge problem. my car too feels sluggish like it doesnt want to shift into gear right away from the 1-2 shift. for example, when i make a turn at 15mph, my rpm's will rise higher than normal, and finally shift sluggishly. also at highway speeds, i will punch it and like you said you are having, my car bounces off the rev limiter a bunch of times and finally shifts..... but it doesnt feel like it has the pull up top like it should. so if you find out anything about your problem please let me know......

yeah i suppose you could do that...... however if they end up telling you that there is no problem, just take a mechanic out for a ride with you and tell him exactly what you are noticing. i have gotten to the point where i need to do that as well
