Re: TB and MANIFOLD

do you have enough mods to warrant a new TB or manifold?

other than that, FAST is really making heads turn in the market with their units..but they are pricey..

often people just get the LS6 intake and use it..but it really boils down to what are YOU going to do? how much modding and how much power are you looking to make?

Re: TB and MANIFOLD

LS6 intake unless you're going to run a large cam and heads or larger cubes or FI.
For the price of the FAST intake & TB you could run an Ls6 and a cam and make more power.

TB, ported stocker (DIY)

Shorties are worthless, 00 up manifolds flow as well. If they aren't illegal and you're worried about clearance, get mid-lengths.

Springs, I've read too many post with people complaining about their Eibachs settling lower in the rear and some riding on the bump stops. There are other brands that are less expensive that people really like. Research them a bit more.

2. slp lid- a lid is a lid is a lid.. we say that a lot around here.. no lid will really out perform any other.. just find one you like (color or style) and get it.. keep your paper filter.. dont waste $ on aftermarket ones..
3. sportline or pro kit eibach springs - no comment
4. ? tb - no ready for it yet. you need many more mods to really ever get any use of a larger TB
4. ?l manifold - same as above.. you dont need it from day one..

ideas? thoughts? - there are tons of mods that you can do.. the question is what are you wanting out of your car? do you want to SCCA race? Drag Race? Street race? just all around? keep in mind, that adding tons of power and not thinking of suspension will mean you have a high power slow car.. you dont want that.. power is nothing if its not getting to the ground.. LCAs, Panhard, STB, SFC...all of these are to be considered.. but if your car has not tracktion issues whatsoever, then by all means, get more power into her.. then go to back to suspension when you find you cant get traction.. repeat as desired..

Re: TB and MANIFOLD

already have a bbk 80mm TB
slp lid package

shorty headers are useless?

what about the addition of the lsx manifold as a next step?

Re: TB and MANIFOLD

thanks for the comments.

order of the dynatech header system. but having thoughts of sending it back after I lowered the car.

are longtubes worth keeping and installing and raising the suspension?

also thinking about staying stock and just enjoying what's there.

Re: TB and MANIFOLD

sounds like you need to do ALOT more research before you go ordering stuff.

the dynatechs are good headers, and i've heard they tuck up well.

whether you have clearance issues or not will depend on exactly what springs you get.

as for a next step. the FAST is not it.
it has been dyno tested on 400hp engines against the Holley, LS6 and LS1 and had no advantage over the LS6 intake at stock or near stock rpms. the test i saw only showed 1hp over the LS6...not worth 3x the cost.

the advantage of the FAST is for big cubes, or high rpm when the engine needs more air, and the LS6 starts falling short.

since you already have the TB...i guess it doesn't matter. probaly won't hurt ya.

i say do the headers and then get a dyno tune.

Re: TB and MANIFOLD

I'm an impulsive purchaser.
lowered the car and got long tubes.

now I fear dragging the tubes.

lowered it low. I got SLAMMED. Eibach SportLine. Now I feel goofy. I think I would rather go the header system route.

Re: TB and MANIFOLD

Mid lengths aren't far behind long tubes, especially if you clean up the inlets and get some better collectors.

It seems you have money to burn, so ditch those springs and get something more like a 1" maybe 1.5" drop (better yet since you have the cash get some coil overs) and run the long tubes.

It seems your best bet would be to take your car to a good shop, tell them what you want out of it, let them work in over, hand over the cash and drive home a fast car. It would probably be cheaper for you in the long run.
