It was the first mod I did in conjunction with a FIPK ... through all my mods I've always seen a 9-12 rwhp gain on the dyno with the cut out open over the cut out closed.

Personally I open it at the track only, the sound is a little too unrefined for my taste ... and I would just as soon not attract the attention of the popos.

As far as value ... $30 for the cut out, another $25-$50 to get it installed ... 10 rwhp and a tenth plus at the track ... best bang for the buck mod you can do ... don't like the sound on the street, just close it up ...

Good Luck

I put a 3" FlowTech cutout with McCord Power Plate on the I-Pipe under the rear passenger seat. Personally, I like the sound and usually drive with it open unless I have someone in the car with me.

I did two pulls on Hypertech's Dynojet this weekend. First pull was with the cutout closed and coolant at 180 degrees. I ended up with 319 RWHP. I don't have that TQ number in front of me at the moment.

Second pull was with the cutout open and the coolant at 181 degrees. I pulled 330 RWHP and 347 TQ. TQ was increased for the entire run, and HP started increasing at 3000 RPM.

So, the cutout gave better TQ in the entire RPM range from 1500 - 6000. And it gave better HP from 3000 - 6000 RPM.

I love the cutout. It gets to be a bit much if you're driving around with it open all the time, the resonance can get irritating. But if you have the windows down or the t-tops off, the sound is great! I also had a nice horsepower increase with the cutout open (numbers in sig). They are a very good bang for your buck mod.
