Question clutch and rack and pinion

looking to find rack and pinion and clutch kit at very reasonable prices. with clutch kit do i have to do a flywheel? any advice is greatly appreciated. i am tempted to pay 316 with flywheel for clutch and 142 for rack and pinion all from advanced auto parts... I am sure i can get a better prduct for similar prices though right? thanks in advance for the help.

Nope. You can do a clutch without the flywheel. Hell, you can do the clutch disc without the pressure plate if you really want to cheap out

For a little more you can buy a GM LS7 clutch kit with flywheel on EBay.

If you purchase an aftermarket power steering rack, be sure (either you or your mechanic) to reinstall the rack mounting bolts the right way. GM did it wrong.

I'd stay away from Spec clutches. I've had nothing but problems with them and so did a few guys I know.

For a stock replacement, you can get an LS6 clutch, which will hold more power than stock or an LS7 clutch, which will hold much more power than that.

If you're looking for a race-type replacement, I've had good luck with the RAM stuff including the Powergrip HD.
