coolant smell
coolant smell
I changed the coolant for the first time, 1 month ago. Since then, after using the car, i notice the smell of hot coolant. I can find no leaks under the hood, the garage floor is dry, I haven't had to add any. I don't notice the smell in the car when the heater is on. its usually when i exit the car and walk past the front end.
The car has never been overheated and the temp. gauge is within normal range when i drive it.

i've recently seen several very slow lwater pump leaks on ls1's i work at a gm dealer. it's probably due to the hot weather you may want to get it checked out-or right after you've driven it, look on bottom side of wp housing, you should see some residue if its leaking. it is a very slow leak and will only do so while you're driving so the coolant level probably won't drop. good luck
Well I just had my spark plugs changed as well as a bunch of other stuff and while the front end was apart they found a lose bolt on the water pump and fluid was low...I NEVER saw any fluid on the ground and a long time I too smelled radiator fluid but saw nothing. I think with heat and a small water pump leak at running you will never see any signs...
Check your pump bolts for tight... after your next drive of 30+ minutes check the entire front end for any signs immediately...jack it up and get under and look....take a high power light and look all over above... and always keep an eye on your temperature gauge...

not seeing anything under the water pump, after 10 mile drive on the highway. the smell is stronger on the water pump and radiator cap side. is it possible that the radiator cap could be causing it? if so should i just replace it.
