Clunk under car....

Hey. When I drive around, and am cruising down from 40, I hear a clunk, or maybe a pop from under the car. I am thinking broken tranny mount maybe? This is an automatic, been doing it since I put my transmission back in (Had rebuilt, and put a high stall verter in). Any ideas? Also, FWIW, I have a Spohn Torque arm. Could it be the Torque Arm clunking? Any opinions/experiences are great, thanks.

Does it clunk when you accelerate quickly from a stop? Mine did and It was a broken tranny mount. Easy fix.

No, not really. Sometimes if I go over a bump a little too fast it clunks. Will it hurt anything? How much does new mount cost? Should I get a poly mount? How do I know for sure it's the tranny mount broken without replacing first? Thanks.

Isnt your car under factory warranty being an 01, take it to the dealer and tell them there is a noise and you need it fixed. If its still under warranty they will fix for free.

Ok, I am not going to remember the exact dollar amounts because I replaced the Tranny mount on my 2000 Firebird about a year ago. Anyway, I believe the part from the dealer was about $50 or so and I did the install myself. To see if it is broken, just go under the car and look at it. Mine had a noticeable tear in it. After I replaced the mount, my car was perfect again, no clunks.

I followed their install instructions even though I had a 6 cylinder. Easy to follow. Look under install documents, then tranmission mount.

Ok, should I replace with a poly mount or regular or what? Keep in mind, this is an A4. What is the advantage of a poly mount? THanks.

I have heard mixed results with the poly mount compared to the rubber one. The poly mount will be stronger but it will cause a lot of vibration. Some people say the vibrations get a little better but still more than a stock mount. I would stick with the rubber one.
