Question Charging problems

I am currently working on my buddys 99 Z28 while he is in Irag and he asked me to look at the charging problem he is having. Now while driving it is just above the yellow maybe even touching it, and if you let the car sit 3-4 days the battery is totaly DEAD (dont even get a dome light or door chime) He also has some type of box on there that attaches to the TB then the alt so when you are at WOT the lights get bright But just normal driving it is in the yellow. Now I took the battery and alt to advance auto yesterday and they both tested, and they tested out fine. I am lost and since day 1 it has been like this. He has a new battery(optima) in it as well and just had the alt rebuilt. I belive he has Underdrive pulleys but not 100% sure. I dont know what to do now I am a LT1 guy and not at home with these LS1's. Any help would be appericated I also did a search but didnt find the answeres I was looking for.

I belive it is a BUILT LS1 Not 100 % sure but I know it is heads and cammed and all the aviable bolt ons. Some one please help me

Thanks
Matt

Re: Charging problems

well I just drove it around and it charges good excpet when you floor it. Now when you floor it the Amps DROP all the way to red. I am lost now. But I do recall him saying his 02's keep shorting out. There is a wire wraped around a fuse in the box it is a blue 15amp...I guess the fuse is blown cuz I pulled the wire off and the car wont idle, I put the wire on and the car idles perfectly. I think he said his 02;s short or his MAF so I guess I will look for the wire...Does anyone have a wire digram of that part of a LS1?

Thanks
Matt

i have the same exact problem minus i dont see a loss when i floor it. do you have an electric cutout by chance? i think my drain might be from that, but could be wrong. let me know how you make out.
