Changing Wheel Studs?????
Changing Wheel Studs?????
Anybody ever change the wheel studs on their car. I've never done this before, but I will be replacing 2 wheel studs that were cross threaded on my dad's car. I'm gonna be doing this tomorrow.
1. Take off wheel.
2. Take off Caliper.
3. Take off Rotor.
4. Hit messed up studs real hard w/large hammer till they come out.
5. Put new studs in place.
6. Put on rotor.
7. Put on Caliper.
8. Put on wheel.
9. Tighten NEW lug nuts.
What am I missing here? I can't afford to mess this up as my day is extremley busy tomorrow.

Front or back? If it's the front skip steps 2-3 and 6-8. For the rear don't set the emergency brake ... you'l l have to work the stud in between the plate and the brake drum - you'll see it when you get it apart.
The only step you missed is after putting in the new studs is to get a spare lugnut and about 3 washers and tighten it down to suck the stud in.

I believed front or back skips r same ….
No need for large hammer, it may damage the bearing use small one,… before that better use WD40 spry it may help
When u fix-back the new studs u have to use big nut with washers or more than 4 / 5 washers then tighten the lug-nut to pull the stud till its end ….
