CC 218/224 Users, Opinions Please?
I was just wanting some feed back on the
people that have the
Comp Cams 218/224. .527/.534 on 114LSA.
Any opinions.
I was looking for a lower lift mild cam that
would give decent power/torque and great driveability.
Any highs or lows for this cam. It would be
intended for a mild LS1.
Thanks for any info.

is there a specific reason you wanted to go with a low lift cam? I would personaly go with an Xtreme or Xtreme R lobe instead of the low lift ones. You're going to have to change springs anyway, and the extra lift will help make more power.
I would go with a Xtreme R 218 lobe on a single pattern if I were looking at a mild cam. not that the cam you have chosen is bad, but wouldnt be my first choice, mainly because of the low lift
cant comment on the driveability of that cam
for the record I have a comp 224/224 .568/.568

The idea with a mild lift cam is to be able to use ls6 springs and have at least some peace of mind when going for long rides with a modified car.
If it's .05 to .1 seconds faster at the track due to higher lift is not necessarily enough to justify increased likelihood for sewing machine sound, valve guide wear, rocker arms exploding, springs failing and taking out the engine...
CC 218/224 is one of the cams I've been looking into as well, Lunati 222/230 might also be interesting.

I do not have any info on the cam you are looking at, but I can give you some info on one of the smaller cams we carry that you might be interested in.
We have a 220/220, .564"/.564" on a 112LSA and 114LSA. We installed the one on a 114LSA last night. It went into a 2000 Vette(M6) with stock exhaust(Manifolds, cats, mufflers, etc.). He picked up 31RWHP with the cam. This is a great cam if you are not looking for a big cam and still want to make some nice power. We put in Comp 918 springs. The drivability is great, especially after a little tuning.
Let me know if there's anything we can do for you!
