Car idles at 2000 rpms or tries to die. Error codes: P1171 and P1174
I have a 2000 Camaro 6-Speed. Last night I installed the NOS 5177 kit on my car, and today the car has been acting up. (I still haven't completely installed the nitrous kit, so I haven't had a chance to try it out.)
I noticed that the car idled up and down between 1000rpms and a couple hundred rpms and I thought the engine was about to die. When I revved the engine up to 3000rpms, it would slowly drop back down and occassionally it would continue to idle at 2000rpms.
When I drove the car it would rev to 2000rpms between shifts. If I kept the clutch in, it would continue to rev at 2k.
The service engine light also came on. I'm a computer engineer, and I've been designing a software tool that allows a laptop to connect to any 1996+ vehicle and run diagnostics, check trouble codes, plot real time graphs of multiple vehicle sensors, and I'm about to finish up a feature that logs runs and estimates horespower, 1/4mile times, 1/8 mile times, etc. (Basically it combines the features of a professional scan tool with the performance analysis features of a G-Tech or dynamometer. If you want me to make one for ya, I can do it for about $175.)
Anyways, I used my tool to find out why the check engine light was on, and it gave me the following trouble codes:
P1171 - Fuel System Lean During Acceleration
P1174 - (UNKNOWN)
I then used my tool to check the LTFTs (Long Term Fuel Trims) and they were both running VERY rich. (+38% +25%)
When I installed the nitrous system last night, I did not tamper with anything that should have screwed things up. Below are the things that I did yesterday that may have changed something:
1.) Removed Airbox and MAF. (Yes, I hooked the MAF back up correctly. I even tried another MAF today.)
2.) I had the SLP Air Intake Temp Module on the car, but I REMOVED it yesterday as I didn't want any advanced timing with the nitrous system on the car. (It had been on the car for a couple weeks without problems.)
Also, my EGR tube is hissing very loudly??? VERY LOUD. I'm going to take it off tomorrow and try to find out why. Its hissing near where it goes into the intake manifold.
Could the EGR cause my car to run extremely lean?
Does anyone know what the P1174 trouble code is on a 2000 Camaro?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Disregard my last post. I did some searching on Google and found the answer to my question. The EGR tube can cause a vacuum leak AND a vacuum leak will cause the engine to idle very sporadically.
I am almost certain that is the problem. A couple months ago, I used a dremel to cut off the EGR tube that sticks down in the intake behind the throttle body. I may have weakened the metal EGR hose at the time. And when I installed the WOT switch for the nitrous kit last night, I probably bumped the EGR hose enough to cause a leak.
(Hopefully that'll be the case, anyways!)
Thanks for the help!

Often when doing the ERG mod the quad ring that seals the tube to the manifold doesn't seat correctly and gets sucked into the motor causing a vacuum leak. Ask me how I know this?
Another possibility is that the bottom of the hose coupling the MAF to the throttle body is not all of the way on the throttle body causing a leak. Also a common problem.
