Where did I get those numbers? From Geoff Skinner himself last Friday.

Re: Cam Questions

I've been hearing and reading good things about the CheaTR, F13, and Torquer. My engine has developed a knock and my pushrods are still straight so while it's open....
My prob is trying to decide also. My car is a total daily driver that I like to take trips in, so I defiantely don't want too radical. The thing that draws me to the CheaTR is the near stock idle. I like sleepers.
Then again I do miss the idle that my 70 SS had.

Near stock idle? Having personally heard one, I would call it a "stock" idle. Even listening for lope (after being told the car was cammed) I had a hard time detecting any.

Re: Cam Questions

Where did you hear about changing springs so often? I cant have that going on, during the winter i get alot of miles in, mostly just driving home and to school. Can anyone validate or invalidate this claim? The guy at thunder racing recommended double springs i think he said

Also, which is a better cam for me, the cheaTR or just like a Comp 224? I want low maintinance, but i also want as much power as i can get with manifolds and daily drivability.

Re: Cam Questions

good springs on a mild cam like the cheater or TR224 will last quite a while.

maybe if you drag it every day and run it up to 6500 several times a day, they may not last as long.

but i would say you would probably get away with 40k miles...maybe more.

Greed...

judging from what you mentioned you want out of you cam...i would not get the Torquer. milage suffers a bit and it is a bit touchy in city driving.

but then again "daily driveable" is a VERY relative term

Re: Cam Questions

Ya, I heard a clip of a Torquer. Very nice!!! Thanks for the info about it's drivability. Ya, that is always a relative term.

I'm kind of leaning towards the f13 or f11 and maybe the CheaTR. Everyone I've heard from thats running the f13 says that if they knew how mellow it was they'd have gone with the f14. Guess I need to call both places and see what they say.
