Cam only

I have a 2000 z28 M6 stock, lid intake (ram air), cutout, everything else is stock.

I was wondering what cam would be the best, without any other upgrades(will replace pushrods), LT headers will be in the future.

I want the most power, with reliability, and fuel mileage. I'll go with a 112 LSA because I want the coppy idle.

Clutch and all drivetrain will be stock, I don't race, it's a daily (only) driver

I just want the power in the bank so I can use if a mustang mess around.

Re: Cam only

i love my cam. see sig for specs. i had alot of adjusting to do to keep it running. iac count was too high, kept throwing p0121 tps code. nice cam idle and nice power. i had the head and exhaust done at the same so i cant say for certain what i gained with the cam. talk to brian or jason at tsp they can hook you up right. go too big a cam and you might need tuning too.

Re: Cam only

any recomendations for an almost stock Cam? Don't want to change the sound of idle to drastically!

Re: Cam only

nearly every cam worth spending money on will require swapping to higher lift valve springs.

the TR224 cam is tried and true for great power, driveabilty and milage.

i just had the TSP torquer cam installed, stock heads and boltons. the stock clutch didn't hold it, slipped in the high rpms.
conservative tune and a slipping clutch put me at 382hp at the wheels.

on a 300mile road trip i got 24mpg for milage...most of that was 80mph.

do a search for "torquer" and my posts will come up.

Re: Cam only

like teke said anything over the stock cam you'll need to at least get new springs...tr224 cam would be a good choice...any cam on a 112 will loose some gas mileage because of the amount of overlap...ir you could go with a cam on a 114 with a stock tune and it should give you some nice lope

Re: Cam only

If you want a cam that will not be too hard on stock parts, I would look into our 225 camshaft on a 112. You could run 918's with the cam no problem. This cam will give you some great power through the midrange for great steetability and it will have a nice lope to it. We have the 225 and 918's as a package with the 7.400 pushrods for $699.99(+shipping). Let us know if you have any questions!
