Cam Identification Help

Hi, just bought my car yesterday and the dealer wasn't clear on what modifications were done besides the supercharger. The car has a lopey idle and feels cammed, and I was wondering if there's any where to identify what cam it is without tearing it out. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

Re: Cam Identification Help

Not unless you can contact the previous owner, or someone local knows the car.

Inersting name btw, a car with half the power of a stock LS1 could claim that too... j/k I just think its funny that a supercharged TA would even consider running a civic. Ya, there are some fast ones, but they are few and far between and I respect any quick car. Cobradestroyer would be more up to par.

Re: Cam Identification Help

I detected the same irony. How much lope does it have? Lope + forced induction = in many cases.

Re: Cam Identification Help

Haha, CivicDestroyer was the name I made in 2001 when I was still in HS and had my 2001 Z28. EVERYONE, and I mean everyone in my school, had a Civic, and I hate them...so it was my "mission" to "destroy" them. And since buying the car, I came on this site and saw that my Username still worked (sold my Z28 and haven't posted in 2 years). Also, I dont know how to change the username...

As far as the "lope"...maybe I'm not using the correct word? I can describe it like this: while the car is idling, it's not a super steady (off the showroom floor) idle, it goes up a little, then down a little...) I hope that clears it up.

Re: Cam Identification Help

I was just messin with you on your name.

Sounds like you're describing a nervous idle, kind of like how the MTI stealth cams run. Still can't be sure.

Your best bet is to find who owned it before, someone that recognizes and knows about the car, or the shop that modded it.

Try posting on mofbody.com or fastlouis.com to see if anybody knows who had the car before you.
