the amount of oil consumption varies but many LS1s do have oil consumption problems...from what i've heard it was particularly the LATER LS1s (01-02). thankfully my 98 doesn't seem to consume any that i can see.

yeah according to GM this oil consumption is normal on the LS1. my 99 Z usually needs about a half a quart to a full quart between oil changes (3000 miles of course). nothing really big to worry about.

Oil Problem

My car does not burn any, or at lease that I can measure.

I always check the dip stick every Saturday before I crank
it up...same level for 2,500 miles.

Hope you find a reason why it burns oil.

I switched from dino oil to a good synthetic and my oil consumption has decreased. I usually have to add about 1 quart every 1500-2000 miles. Since I switched to synthetic I also don't change the oil every 3000 miles, I usually go for about 6000 before I change it.

leave it to GM to build the baddest N/A smallblock ever to go into a performance car...

...and then inform owners that it is normal for it to drink oil.....
