Brake Rotors

Hey guys!! MY Rotors.. if that's even how they are spelled, are warped! I know this because when I brake at high speeds the whole car shakes and when I'm slowing down it does a jerky little stop, and the guys at FireStone (Bunch of D*cks) told me they were as well. Well I was wondering where I could get a cheap pair of Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotors on the internet, I don't know alot of places except like LS1speed.com and stuff like that, but i'd like to know what has worked out best for people in the past on thier Camaros, and with Hard Driving or Traffic Driving.

All the online vendors carry rotors. If you don't care about looks ect. you can just go to autozone & get their rotors. Then order some Hawk pads & you'll be set. The pads make the difference, not so much the rotors. Most people have had a solid experience using autozone rotors. I had powerslots on my SS & for how I drove they did great. I'm most likely going with Baer Eradispeeds on my WS6, but that's just cuz I like the bling.

I got Sure Stop rotors from Speed Inc. They are pretty cheap compared to others, they are $350 for a set, plus about $30 for shipping. Speed Inc also carries Rototech rotrors which are VERY cheap. Not sure about their quality and what not. KVR also makes cheap rotors, not slotted I don't think , but they are drilled. Not sure where to get them though

Also, here's a big deal concerning your braking issue.

My front rotors were acting like they were warped. I only had the car for 2 months since I bought it from the dealer who put new brakes on the car. I jacked the front up to where the fronts were barely touching. I loosened all the bolts then tightened them with a torque wrench at GM spec. It made a very big difference. Try it and see what you think. The TQ spec for the lugs are 104FT/LBS.

I've had good luck w/Napa rotors. The only time you really need slotted or drilled is for autocross, etc. Anything else and you're just getting them for looks. Just hit the non-pad surfaces w/some high temp paint prior to installation and they'll stay looking good.

Rotors have a factory warranty of 12 months or 12,000 miles. Since your car is an 02 your might be able to have them replace for free..

Unless you just want the look of drilled / slotted rotors, save your $$$ and go to AutoZone. Get the Aimco rotors. They are cheap and work great.

For pads, I recommend Raybestos. I run the ceramic pads up front (lifetime warranty, no squeal, low dust) and the standard Raybestos pads in the back (2 year warranty, no squeal, low dust)
