Bolt on and cam question

Few questions:

Has anyone tried that FAST LS1 intake manifold? Is it worth the $800 price tag?

What is a good cam for hi HP gains while maintaining decent reliability. I'd like something with a very noticable lope.

I'm planning on installing headers. Is it best to do the cam and headers at the same time, or is it equally difficult whenever you do it?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

A cam is going to run you over $1000 by the time it's done. You need to have the supporting parts to go with it like gaskets, springs, pushrods and a tune. You'll already want to have the other supporting mods done first (lid, LS6 intake manifold, headers, and catback). Don't bother with the FAST until you up the displacement...that is, unless you think 5~10 extra hp is worth the extra $400~$500.

if you add more cubes (i.e. a stroker kit or new engine) then the 90/90 setup is worth it. i see no reason for anyone to waste their money on the fast 78mm EXCEPT for the option of burst panels for boost or n20. ls6 intake can be bought used for $200 (if your lucky) to $350 which is what i just paid.

sspdemon is right about the cost with supporting mods if you want to run an aggressive cam. my cam is semi aggressive and i known the magic stick v4 is wilder yet. i know everyone wants performance NOW at the cheapest price, but you might want to consider savin gup for a decent set of complete heads, wether they are prc's like i have, ls6 ported, afr, trickflow etc. mine came complete with the dual springs and titanium retainers blah, blah, blah, for $1500 and the cam was $400. average installation is $700
