Angry Bad Speaker

The speaker on my driver's side door is thumping and has a REALLY annoying buzzing sound. I have to turn the fade to the rear speakers because the sound gets to me.

What is going wrong here? I don't blast my radio and always shut it off before I turn my car off. I have the Monsoon with the in-dash CD player.

How do you get the driver's side door panel off to access the speaker?

unscrew it.. but I may be mistaken but I thought it was just a grill cover like on the middle speakers.. if not, then yes, you remove the screws around the armrest, and then take out the lock lever (it kinda just pops off) then lift the entire door cover off the edge of the door at the top by the window and you should be able to see the speaker sitting there are the bottom corner..

The factory speakers are cheese... I am having the drivers side middle one replaced for the 2nd time.. under warranty tho.. hehe

The speaker grille doesn't come off by itself, does it? It seems like it's part of the plastic around it.

When I have more time, I'll probably take the door apart.

Any idea how much a replacement speaker should run?

These stock speakers are just plain bad...mine where replaced under warranty...but I soon replaced them with MBquarts...much better now...do you still have any warranty left, give it a shot. But you can access the speaker from just removing the cover and not the panel

My speakers are still fine , however here's my story: Replaced the driver's side speaker on my girl friend's Camaro. Paid 80 bucks for one (one) speaker , were both pissed off since they refused to cover it by the warranty. Removing the door panel is easier than you might think: get all screws out, then lift it up a lil bit and work on the speaker (you don't have to take the cover off completely)... a week later the speaker on the passenger side died, another 80 bucks, and again upset..... after this experience : get something better at BestBuy or wherever. IMO - you'll find something better than the orig. speaker at WalMart
