Post Problem with speaker installation

I recently purchased a pair of Rockford Fosgate Speakers and Pioneer speakers formy 1994 z28. when i had a deck put in, the guy who installed the deck said my stock speakers were blown in the front. I didnt really care because i planned to install he fosgates in the front. After i took the door panel off and pulled out the old speakers, i sodered the speaker leads to the speaker for a better connection then clips. I made the correct connections and everything was mounted properly. however, when i turned on the deck, the speakers click and i have to turn the volume all the way up to get a slight sound out of them. Is something wrong with the wiring? Do I have a bad ground? I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thanx

What kind of stock system did you have? Monsoon? Bose? Basic 4 speaker system? What kind of HU do you have? Sounds to me like one of your speaker wires may be shorting against something. I'd remove the speakers and make sure the speaker terminals aren't touching any metal in the doors. You may want to remove the HU and test all the speakers resistances with a multimeter to see what's going on.

It sounds like your '94 is equipped with the Bose system, and the problem you described is exactly what would happen if you just replaced the front speakers in a Bose system.

The Bose HU only has line level outs. Each speaker in the Bose system then gets its own amp attached to the back, and that amp drives the 1 ohm Bose speaker. If you pulled the Bose speaker, you also pulled its amp, so you're basically trying to attach a line level out to a speaker and expecting to get sound...won't work.

The only way to add aftermarket speakers to a Bose equipped system is to purchase a PAC OEM-1, and an aftermarket amp to power the replacement speakers.

However, if you replaced the Bose HU with an aftermarket HU and then ran the wires directly from the new HU to the new speakers, then the problem I described shouldn't be happening.

I don't think that I have the BOSE system. I only had two front speakers and the one in the back opposite the side of the spare tire. When I went to try and install my rear speakers, i found that the only thing on the mounting position was a big sheet of double sided tape blocking both speaker mounts.
