i agree but getting one that alows air to flow better is sorta a mod

I'm not jealous of anybodies 98-99. In fact I wanted a 2002, which is why I sold my 99.

2002 has:
no EGR.
LS6 intake.
5 more rwhp.
radio controls on steering wheel.

Useless mods:
HPP3 on M6's, aftermarket MAFs & Throttle bodies(do it yourself) power pulleys, SLP bellows, SLP air temp tricker, cutout(lost 2rwhp on dyno)

Cool

I may get flamed for this, but I've heard that stall converters are only good for 1/4 mile performance (or any off-the-line performance) but for normal city/daily driving, they're hard on the transmission and fuel mileage because it is allowing a lot more slippage than the stock converter?? I know that everybody who puts one in "loves them", but IMO it's probably 'cause the car is way "snappier" off the line, but can everyone honestly say that they're nice to drive around in the city (revving higher than normal on average?).

FWIW, a transmission shop near me (who installed the shift kit in my '81 Z28) will not install converters into people's cars if they're a stall converter because they get too many complaints afterward that they're not pleasant to drive around. They will order and sell you the converter, but it's your responsibilty to install it. There's gotta be some truth to that.

As far as other bad mods?? I'd have to say stickers!!!

now that you mentioned stickers...

there's some guy around miami who truned a v6 camaro (thank god he didn't do it to a z28 or ss) into a rice-mobile. he turned that camaro into a civic practically. he has that big *** useless metal wing... altezas, some UGLY *** body kit, the slp quad pipe, stickers up the wazzooo (i think i saw neon lights IN and UNDER his car... not 100% sure though where the lights were, i was so digusted i was too busy to remember )... i mean, damn... it's bad enough they do it to cars like civics and stuff.... but when you do it to a camaro, your asking to get smacked. if i ever saw this kid on the street, i'd smack him because i think his mother forgot to, lol

Tyburn was running a special on the whisper lid with the K&N, got it for 30 bucks, in a package. Cleaning kit, i had from my mustang. I have used the same kit 3 times, and it still has some juice left. U don't have to clean it till 50,000 miles, or so it says in the instructions. Usualy clean mine every 20,000-25,000, free ram-air mod kinda gets it dirtier quicker. Last time i remember u are suposed to change a paper filter every 15,000. What else could i have wasted my money on, the 50 $ hose called the slp bellows, that has to be the most expensive hose i have ever seen.

I would have to say any mufflers. if you dont have long tubes, then you dont need mufflers; just get rid of them...my dynomax mufflers way about 65 pounds each and i just bolt them on for inspection. Also high flow cats...gutted cats dont do anything so high flow ones dont either. shorty headers also...maybe 6 or 8 ponies. Yes i have all of these mods, only because i have to get inspected.

I have seen camaros with fart cans as well...

also, when I bought my z it had pep boy futura tires...I picked up 9 tenths in my 0-60 alone when i switched to nittos...dont fool yourself, tires are important.

I gained 6RWHP by gutting my cats. For nothing this is a good mod

any mod that is advertised on tv... like that propeller in your intake..

hehe
i agree with that Tornado crap...
I agree with that MAF
but i do think the K/N and Holley are good for someone who doesnt want to mod their car and just to have it breathe better however this is a "bad mod" thread so technically they are HORRIBLE mods hehehe
