Of all the times this has been brought up the one consistent and usually only answer is a bigger alternator.

They do not have a shift kit, they do not make anymore power.

they get the 1le style suspension, a larger alternator and depending on years they had oil cooler and power steering cooler that the same year did not.

They never had superchargers, they never had strokers, they make the same power that every other car did for that year.

B4C is standard Z28. The reason the public can't order one is GM put a sticker price on them a couple of thousand dollars LESS than regular Z28 to give Police departments a break on cost. Once at dealers they will occasionally sell them to public. Myths are rampant everytime this subject comes up but not one documented difference has ever been proven. A used cop car has had just about the hardest life a car could endure: jumping curbs, roaring across grass interstate medians and driven in all types of weather while being manhandled by non owners. Lets have some facts and not anecdotal, seat of the pants imaginations.

I guess you worked at the factory, then.

No, I don't think they came with a shift kit. I'm just so tired of *******s that think they know ****ing everything and their word is law.

In case you don't realize it, if you start your post with the statement: "Wrong." or a declaritive statement such as that, you're coming off as an *******. If that's what you like, go for it.

Sorry if I offended PhantomTA. I'd just like to see a thread that didn't eventually melt down to an ignorant, insulting, namecalling shouting match......... much like this one.......

Actually, i didnt work at the plant...

However i did work at a chevy dealer that supplied a city with B4c's..
It just happens that i know what im talking about, go figure..

The only way to get a point across to some people is to flat out tell them how it is. Why should i sugar coat something for someone? Other than to try and not let someone down who thinks they have some sort of "special" god sent car? The state of "not knowing" runs wild on this board and way to much false info is given. Simply saying my 02 feels faster than my 99 and my 02 is a B4c, so it must mean the B4c's make more power. Well in reality the 02 just make more power than the 99's in stock form. I only went after your post because you said you had a shift kit, i know they dont come that way from GM. You just said you had one, and didnt even mention the possibilty that it could have been done "aftermarket". I am not perfect, i do not know everything. However i do search for the answer and admit when i am wrong.

It only becomes a bad thread when people who arent sure, or think they know something that isnt right tries to defend something that is in reality incorrect...

geno, i have no hard feelings towards you as i dont take any of this too seriously anymore because... after all this is the internet.

Point taken, Dave. And I appreciate your respectful reply. I certainly don't think my B4C is God Sent.

The 1978 W72 Trans Am that I just found in a garage with only 6,900 miles on it. THAT was a God Send. Thank you, God. You da' Man!

WOW you couldnt be further fromt he truth on that one man!

the guy i bought he car from really knows his stuff about B4C cars. he is also a state trooper for FL. he drives a B4C for work. he has spoken personally with Scott Sedelmyer <sp?>

thats the guy that fathered the camaro. he says most B4C's feel faster then regular Z's is that they are ran harder than normal.

this helps the motor break in properly, instead of most street cars that are babied. words out of his mouth were the LS1 runs best after its been beat on and broken in. thats probably why they feel so fast.

i ran 13.1 with a lid not even a full week after owning it, and getting used to how it drives.

but my car looks far from beat. it looks brand new! i get just as many compliements in my 1998 B4C as i do my 1969 show car camaro.

When I owned mine, I did notice that it was more powerful than regular Z's. I think the reason why was that it was broken in more heavily. But I just wanted to say that the cpu was programmed differently than stock Z's. I noticed that my rev limiter was a lot higher than others, and I think the a/f ratio was different, but don't quote me on that unless I'm wrong(?). As for being trashy and beat up......I have had plenty of compliments on how clean and nice it was.

I believe the "trashy and beat up" comment was aimed toward the 2nd gens that the post author usually sees around on the roads.

B4C had a bigger alternator. It might have had 1LE suspension but that's a new one on me. If you have a shift kit or reprogramming, good for you. Are you the first owner? No? Then you my friend have what is called a "used car". What the previous owner(s) did to it will forever be a mystery. But they didn't come from the factory that way. Also, even if the person you bought the car from is a cop that says he know everything about B4C's, don't believe everything he tells you.

This is my contribution to this meaningless post:
Believe only what you can prove. Doubt everything else. Trust no one, especially if they are trying to sell you a car.

I really could care less if my car came from Chevy with the shift kit or if the cops put it in.

all i know is im glad that i have it. i do and will beleive the guy i bought it from.

Like the guy said before... how doy ou know for a fact that they dont? where you there when they installed the tranny??

or are you just going by what you hear from other people?

you dont know who i bought it from so why on earth would you tell me not to believe him?? He is a first class act and have no reason not to trust him!

Do you own a B4C????

if not, know your role, im taking offense to what you are saying to me.

it seems people are hating on the B4C owners. they dont want us thinking we have a special car.

well, we do, i also paid $8800 for my 1998 car and run 13.1's all day long, compared to some sigs i see in this post who im sure paid close to 30k for their 01's and 02's and are mid-high 13's!

im in tampa and can be found at BMP almost every weekend, and i have a girl in orlando, and can be found lurking on the streets on the weekends.

You have a nice day now.

Corey
