B4C Police Package any power difference from typical Z-28?

I just purchased a '99 Petwer B4C A4 Z-28 I have noticed that it is quicker than typical Z-28's. Is this in my imagination or is something different with the B4C package?
I have heard of differences by means of a chip, or reprogrammed ECU....Also, and suspension differences from the typical Z-28?
I just purchased a power programmer and want to make sure I don't reconfigure an already hyped up ECU code!

Thanks for the help.....

i can't help you with your questions. but i have a few for you. what year is the car, how many miles, how much did you get it for, and did you get it through a public auction?

congrats on the purchase .

It has a more powerul alternator if you wanna install an a$$ load of neons or something. other than that there's no difference.

The car is a '99 with 83K miles, I got it from someone who bought it at a public auction....It was $7700, I paid $9K with a new paint job

i could have sworn the B4C package came with a 383 LT4 in the 93-97 body styles. maybe I'm wrong, but i always thought the B4C (police) package was more hopped up

police car

i highly doubt that all the cars that are used by the state troopers or local police come with any significant upgrades. i dont see why they would give somebody such a fast car when they are out there trying to stop street racing and trying to catch fast drug smuggling cars. u have might have a couple extra goodies but by no means to have a police z28. a kid at my school bought a 97z28 highway patrol car and he was claiming to have a chip in it or something like that, he took a 98z28 so it might have been possible, like i said a few extra goodies. last but not least i have heard.....yes this is only through the grapevine but... i have heard that those highway patrol cars are crazy crazy fast. they are supercharged and can get up to 130 in 9 seconds, they also have to have 100 pound weights in the back to hold the rear end in place....thats all rumors though....but i believe that police stations will not sell a car that they have completley decked out.

all rumors, i had a freind that is a state trooper here in texas. He opted for the z instead of the crown vic. It is an LT1 though, and it is pretty much stock except for the alternator. Why no 383, they would have to spend about 300 dollars a day in gas, it is not practical and will not last as long as a stock Z. They are made to scare drivers, not catch them, thats what helicopters with spot lights are for. Another question, how did you get one in pewter, they only come in white, with black door trim.

It certainly could be my imagination, but I had a 97 LT1 6-speed, then a 2000 LS1 A4, now a 2002 B4C special service, and I swear this B4C feels much stronger than either of the previous. It could well be that the LS1/6-speed combo is just inherently stronger than the previous. I know that if I stomped on the LS1/A4 at about 10mph in 1st gear the car rarely broke the tires loose. This B4C gets downright squirelly(sp?).

I'm sure there is no real hardware difference, but a chip difference could be a possibility. I'd like to take it to the track, but it's only got a few hundred miles and I'm tucking it in for the winter. I'm in KY and snow is in timorrows forecast.

Same power, but they don't all come in white/black:

But many do:

How true! Mine is Sunset Orange. Only 8 of those made this year. 7 6-speeds (like mine) and 1 A4.

I just bought a 98 B4C from South Carolina.

i got it last thursday.

B4C's come with a High out put altenator. they need that for the lights and siren. the are all ordered with power everything. as this is the only way to get the heavy duty wire harness from GM.

they also share some of the 1LE suspension components. like HD bushings in the tailing arms and the 1LE front sway bar.

its not mentioned anywhere, but i have a friend who also has a 98 B4C from SC..... our cars shift hard as hell! they must have a shift kit!

i ran at the local track this weekend. i have the SLP lid and a dyno mouth muffler on the stock 2.5 inch I pipe and stock RSA's

60' 1.98 1/8 8.46 @ 85.4 1/4 13.1 @106.14
