I have to agree with you their, the LT1 SS's look more agressive, however I will say I like the LS1 SS spoiler better....I hope you like it to since thats all you'll be lookin at \

Before I get flamed for my little joke, I had a 1997 Z28 6spd 2 years ago and I loved it, great low end and sounded mean as hell with my mufflex cat-back!

The LS1 is so much faster at highway speeds its not funny.

The only thing I miss is the sound.
Right on Rob....I agree , LT1's sound AWSOME . But even off the line , My LS1 is faster then both of my LT1's . And like you said , on the highway , well , thats not even a race .

Maybe I just had a good running LT1, but, when I had just CAI and 3" catback, I raced an '01 LS1 w/ the same mods ( lid and catback) from 60 mph to 120 and it was dead even. Another thing I have noticed, an LT1 w/ 330 rwhp will beat an LS1 with 330 rwhp every time. My roommate has a 99 SS. When I had the CAI and the catback, he was stock, we were dead even both M6s. I think it's what you can afford. I think if you can afford the LS1, go for it, otherwise, a slightly modded LT1 can be pretty quick and powerful as well.

My '97 Z28 had all free mods, CAI, ripper shifter, mufflex exhaust, 4.10's, 1LE intake elbow and the best time I could muster was a 14.01@99.98mph.......my SS ran 13.544@103 bone stock on a similar night

err well you obviously can't drive, or your LT1 was the slowest LT1's on the road

an LT1 with a 3 inch catback and a CAI will most likely run about the same as an LS1 ... basically, i got a best of 13.6 in my LT1 with those mods and stock i pulled 13.6 in my LS1, both at about 102mph

however, i just changed my plugs in my LS1 and it feels faster than before, so maybe it'll pull faster than 13.6 @ 102mph ... however it still doesn't even come close to my old LT1 off the line.

completly agree about the highway though, my old LT1 i'd punch it and it'd feel like i was in a civic, but in the LS1 it gets scarry real quick.

LS1 is a ton faster stock...though you could pick up a LT1 really cheap and mod the heck outta it for 1/2 the cost of what the LS1 will cost ya....If I had the money Id go 04 Cobra screw the LS1 or LT1

Never happen , Ive owned both and raced each....a good running full bolt on LT1 will give a stock LS1 a good run

Got to agree, a ful bolt on LT1 will probably still be in the 13's, but a full bolt on LS1 will easily be looking at the mid to low 12's.

I had an A4 96 Vette. I put a Vortech on it and it ran 13 flat. I loved the car, but my LS1 Z28 is quicker and faster, and it's pretty much a stocker.

Well I dont have an LT1 but I have some friends that do and with full bolt-ons one ran 13.8 and the other 14.2, the one that ran 14.2 put in some 4.11's and ran 13.7 I believe. But as far as low end goes I think it just feels different, I run 1.99 60' times on street tires, and a couple of tenths quicker 1/8 mile times, and they run like 2.1 60' s. Plus if it bothers you the way it feels that much just put gear in it, then it will really feel like a kick in the ***!!!

I may not be the best driver in the world, but in that Z28 I was pulling 2.00 short times on crappy Good Year RSA's. I think the car was just in need of some serious help.

I say go LS1 all the way. I have an LT1 and its great, but there is no comparison to the two engines. the only disadvantage is the price to mod a LS1 is more, but things are changing and soon the prices will come down. Although some say LT1 can't compete but it can. My ride had CAI, headers, and true duals which neted me a 13.5 at 105 and this is with a heavy convertible. One of my races was against a 50th aneversary corvette he won by two tenths but had the same mph as me and a better 60 ft. We both had 105 mph my 60 ft was 2.3 his 2.0 From what I've seen though most stock LS1's put down mid to low 13's, I'd rather start with that than 14's with LS1, plus the heads are so much better, and frankly you look at the LS1 forum and there's hardly any problems posted compare that to the LT1 forum. Some say its because they haven't been around long enough, but there are plenty with high miles and it really has been about 7 years
