I say go with the ls1. IMO the body style is much more sexier than the earlier 4th gens, plus if your into modding, the ls1 responds very well to simple bolt ons.

Ex- I'm almost full bolt ons (minus ls6 intake) and i made 349rwhp and 362rwtq (411hp 427tq at the crank ) ((figured for a 12% drivetrain loss if your curious))

Ls1 all the way baby.

The only thing I miss is the sound.
Just get a 6 speed and GMMG exhaust

I had a 1995 Z28 Camaro.. The LT1 was fun and had a few boltons.. It finally broke down 1 too many times and I traded it in for the 2002 Z28..

I havent looked back since! The 2002 Z28 is soo much faster and its bone stock.. I havent even had to do anything more than gas, tires, and oil really..

I went through 6 trannys in 3 years on my LT1 though..

I went from a 94 Z28 to a 98 Z28. It is really like night and day. The lt1 was a great car with a great sound and power, but the highway acceleration of the ls1 is insane. Oh and on the first time ever to the track in my life I ran a 13.5 with a 2.1 60 and I stopped accelerating about 200 feet early. And that car was stock and it weighed 3550 (jack and spare in the car). An lt1 couldn't even come close to that.

Went from a 91 Corvette to a 99 Z28, to a 93 5.0, to a 91 5.0, to a 97 Cobra to my now 01 black WS6 in the past 4 years.

I like the WS6 the best.

I ordered my car from the factory, and there was so much hype about the lt1's. Well I bought one, modded the hell out of it and guess which car I still have. The LS1. I wouldn't trade it for a lt1

I'm currently on my 2nd LS1 F-body and have never had an LT1, but here is my .02...

The LS1 does feel a little soft down low, but even so, I still can't really tell a torque difference between it and the LT1 off the line or at lower speeds. The LS1 just has a smoother torque curve and delivery of power. Oh, and stock for stock, the LS1 just pulls soooooooo much harder than the LT1 from the mid rpms and up...

Hey man, if YOU really want and can afford an '02 WS6, I say go for it!

Sorry, but I kinda disagree with that.

I too have a 6-speed LS1 with the GMMG cat-back on it and it does sound nice no doubt (great tone at WOT), but it still doesn't sound as good as most healthy LT1's out there with just an aftermarket cat-back system IMO...

I went from a 95 LT1 M6 w/cold air, shorty headers, high flow cat, meziere water pump to a 98 C5 A4 and my reaction is very similar to everyone else... not the same grunt down low, but from 60+ it just screams.

Hmm, maybe the wheels or exhaust tips...unless it's the CE version, etc. The CE version was in 2002, wasn't it?
