Post Anyone have a Hughes converter?

I have a buddy who can hook me up with a 3000 or 3500 stall pretty cheap. But are they worth doing.
On my last car(93 Formula) I put in a 2500 but as we all know 2500 just isn't enough. It could only really stall at around 1700-1800rpm.
I need some feedback on Hughes from someone who has one on an LS1.
Thanks
STEVE
