Anyone ever run open headers?

So Im looking at these flowtech headers or the pacesetters and I can get the headers alone w/coating for less than $300. Im wondering what this would sound like until I decided to buy the Y-Pipe. Does it basically sound like a cutout/ only louder or what? Please help.

BTW-Whats with the huge price difference between these two brands and, say, SLP or Hookers? Dont they all pretty much put down the same numbers? Thanks.

save up fpr the Y-pipe. you will have cops following you 24/7 and you won't be able to hear yourself think after getting out of the car because of the buzzing in your ear. i fired mine up open headered and it sounded like trash

I've ran open headers a couple times (on my '96 and '02) but only for a couple days each time. I wouldn't say it sounds like s**t but it doesn't sound "good" either. With a nice choppy cam, it'd be a different story.
It's pretty loud at idle and very loud when you're on the gas. Yes, if a cop hears you, I have no doubt that you would get pulled over. Personally, I wouldn't drive around with open headers for very long. Getting pulled over would just be a matter of time and when you do, you could (depending on the cop) be looking at some pretty big fines.

The first few LT LS1 headers to come out (Grotyohann, SLP, FLP) were all pretty expensive...and still are (Grot is no more but the design is still used). Hookers, Jet-Hots, Pacesetters, etc...weren't released until recently. The easiest way to compete with the other companies? Price. Offer people a good deal and they'll buy them. And yeah, all LTs will give you about the same gains.

I ran my car with open headers for a day and it was fun for about 30 mins.... then I went deaf. It sounded awesome but it's insanely loud, it's the loudest your car can ever be.

If you do plan on running open headers then make sure you have turndowns to put on the end of the headers so that you don't burn anything up. Also, you're gonna have to have two o2 sims so your computer will be happy.

On a side note your car will sound really awesome for about 5 minutes while the computer is trying to learn the new exhaust system. It sounds like you have a wicked cam lol.

I wouldn't run open headers. This is discharging carbon monoxide directly under the drivers compartment. I would do everything to avoid inhailing any C0.
