Anyone ever build an LS1? Question about LS1 pistons
I've had to do make a few LS1 piston kits for various people, and they all have the same thing in common. In every kit, I have to machine the skirt on 2 pistons, 1 per side. It's just a relief cut across the skirt, through the bottom of the pin boss. It's .300 deep(.100 past the pin hole)and about .115 wide. What is this for? Is it for clearance to the crankshaft? Also, our shelf stock pistons do not have this cut. Is this just for strokers or what? I've been perplexed at this for a while now.
You will probably get a response quicker on "LS1 Tech".... moving it there.
