Question Antitheft Radio Code

I bought my Z28 used and have no idea about the code for the radio. I don't need it yet since I haven't disconnected the battery, but I'd like to know it or how to reset it. I doubt the previous owner changed it. Would it still be set from the factory? How do I deal with this? If I disconnect my battery and don't know the code I won't be able to get the radio to function, right?

The battery disconnect/radio code, I believe, is in your owners manual.

is the led on your radio flashing?if not then the lock function has not been set and you won't need a code.the factory setting is 000 by the way.

Maybe it's different with the Trans Am stereo, but I had a separate code from the factory that came on a sticker that was attached to the front of the head unit. I pulled the sticker off and keep it in a safe place. I don't remember the number off the top of my head, but I know it wasn't 000. In fact, I tend to think that it was 4 digits, but I could be wrong.

You will need the code if you ever want to use the feature, which I recommend. Take it to the dealer you bought it from (if it's a Chevy dealer) and they can reset it. Any Cheavy dealer could reset if to factory 000. You manual should tell you what you need.

If you haven't diconnected the radio, your owners manual will tell you how to change it. If the dealer has to reset it, they might jab you for 40.00. Yikes. Hope this helps.

Go to LS1.com. There is a faq thread in one of their electronics boards and will show you how to get it. Try this link http://www.ls1.com/java/rotate2.htm
It worked on mine and I'm forever greatful for it.
