Air Intake

I was thinking of cutting the air intake box per the mod I read up on line. Does it really help much cutting the plastic from underneath it? As well will it throw anything off because I did it?

Re: Air Intake

It works well when moving but will heat soak the intake air while sitting still which can cause a loss of power until you get moving again.
A Fast Toys ram air or Super Sucker ram air that hooks to the free ram airopening will stop the heat soak and increase the cold air effect.

Re: Air Intake

What will cutting the baffles actually do for me though? Looking at the area doesnt seem like it would do much.

Re: Air Intake

Are you talking about the tray or the side baffles? The side baffles just keep air noise away, like whistling sounds. The tray will double your air input area. If you get a lid, the baffles are gone. Cut the tray and SSRA will draw fresh cold air from the ground.

Re: Air Intake

I was talking about the bottom of the tray not the sides. Other than getting more fresh air what does it accomplish? Will it actually make the engine more efficient and/or add more power? Im already thinking of doing the throttle body bypass. I just added a 3" cutout this week. Sounds pretty nice.

Re: Air Intake

Get a Lid, and look into the Chris1313 ram air. Really all of these should just be called a good CAI.

All you will benefit is cooler air which is denser (more oxygen) hence more power. I did the throttle body bypass, but I don't drive my car in the winter. Any power difference, not anything noticable. I forgot why I even did it to be honest...

The lid is the top.
The FRA cutout is the bottom.
Both help air get into the motor and they work well with each other.
