Re: Air Boxe lids

kewl. .to each his/her own.. thats what makes life fun and interesting..

but I have had my fill of messing with cars before bedtime (rather messing with cars till its 3-4 am and needing to get sleep).. I prefer to not deal with that any longer.. Like I said to each their own..

I rarely pop my hood unless its at the track or to show that I am still bone stock..
I change my oil when the light tells me to, not when I feel its too dirty... so I guess I just expect more from my engine than most..
at 46K miles.. Its still running fine and won me my first bracket racing trophy (runner up) so I am happy with it.

But... isn't one of the biggest reasons people buy K&N filters because they supposedly increase horsepower? LOL So why would someone buy a filter that works best when it's clogged up, and still expect power increases? LOL seems like a double negative here. Just had to post this, it gave me a chuckle.

And if you read the rest of my posts you would have seen where I said I do not view air filters as a performance mod. I originally (back in 93) went to K&N because my 70 SS kicked up dust so bad I was going through paper filters very quick. So I decided on the K&N because it was washable. IMO, it never had anything to do with more power.
I have seen on other cars where they'll pick up HP from a K&N cone filter. I think that is due to more surface area though.

Like I said, Psycho gave some good food for thought. If I didn't already have a K&N I probably wouldn't buy one.

Thats cool you got a trophy. The LS1 is an amazing engine as far as maintenance. My 70 was faster than my 00 at one time, but I was always having to tweak something. It does get old. The gas milage was also horrible.
