couple quick PVC questions

I was thinking of bying that new design PCV that GM has to curb the oil going into my engine. Is GM the only one that sells it, or can I go to the local auto store and get one. If that doesn't help cure the problem, can I just stick a breather filter on the end of it and forget about attaching it back into the engine? I really don't want to do that filter hose catchcan thing I've read about, to much effort on my part, would rather disconnect it. Will i have an problems with it off, like SES or something else? My engine seem,s to burn a little oil and after taking it to the dealer they did some type of test, and said it was normal, and to check th level every 500 miles. This wouldn't be a problem for me, but on hot days I get pinging, and the crappy California gas doesn't help, So I figure ridding of the PVC back into the engine might help

Changing over to an LS6 PCV will help some but won't cure the oil burning. To get rid of your pinging try running some Seafoam or GM Top Engine cleaner through and switch to a cooler thermostat. The last thing you need on 91 octane is carbon buildup and running at 210+ degrees.

Get it at the GM dealer. Cheaper there than at the parts houses here. May help may not. I went with the full LS6 PCV conversion and I'm adding a catch can just for gps.

Have you thought about installing an AMW oil catch can, well built and priced right. JMO
